Offshore Fishing Guide

Trolling, bottom fishing, and fighting big fish

## Trolling Techniques

Trolling involves dragging lures or rigged baits behind a moving boat. Spread lines at different distances and depths using outriggers and downriggers. Match trolling speed to target species: 5-7 knots for tuna and wahoo, 2-4 knots for sailfish.

## Bottom Fishing

Deep-water bottom fishing targets snapper, grouper, and other reef species. Drop heavy jigs or cut bait on multi-hook rigs to the bottom, then reel up a few cranks. Electric reels help manage depths beyond 100m.

## Fighting Big Fish

When a large pelagic fish strikes, let it run against the drag rather than trying to stop it. Use a fighting belt or harness for extended battles. Pump and reel — lift the rod smoothly, then lower it while reeling. Keep steady pressure and let the drag do its job.
