A small cyprinid from East Asian freshwater systems with a blunt snout, characteristic of the Abbottina genus. Bottom-dweller on sandy and gravelly river beds; feeds on small invertebrates.

Coloration
Brownish-olive back with a series of 6–8 dark blotches along the lateral line; darker dorsal saddles contrast with pale olive flanks; belly cream-white; blunt snout typical of the species.
Habitat & Distribution
Freshwater rivers and streams of East Asia. Inhabits sandy and gravelly riverbeds of temperate rivers in China and surrounding regions.

Found in the Pearl River drainage and other river systems of southern China, including Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. Inhabits clear to moderately turbid lowland rivers with sandy or gravelly benthic habitats.
