Alelia's damselfish

<em>Altrichthys alelia</em>, Alelia's Damselfish, is a small saltwater fish of the family Pomacentridae, the damselfishes—a diverse and ecologically significant group of reef-associated fishes found in tropical and subtropical marine environments worldwide. Adults reach approximately 5.5 cm in length. Depth records indicate this species occurs from the surface down to at least 3 meters, though the minimum depth limit is not precisely established. Pomacentrid damselfishes are typically territorial, site-attached fishes closely associated with coral or rocky reef structures. Members of the genus <em>Altrichthys</em> are notable for exhibiting biparental care, with both parents guarding demersal egg clutches—an unusual reproductive strategy within the family. Details of habitat and range for this species remain limited in the ichthyological literature. <em>A. alelia</em> has not been evaluated for conservation status. Its modest size, shallow reef habitat, and association with a genus known for behavioral complexity make it an interesting subject for behavioral and ecological study in Indo-Pacific reef systems.
