Hakkında

Coregonus zugensis is a freshwater salmonid in the family Salmonidae, belonging to the genus Coregonus — the whitefishes — which includes numerous endemic forms distributed across prealpine lakes of Switzerland and surrounding regions. This species is associated with the Zug lake basin and occupies depths between approximately 20 and 80 metres, consistent with the depth preferences of other small coregonid forms in Swiss lakes. Adults reach a maximum recorded length of around 20 cm, making it one of the smaller coregonid forms in its genus. Like relatives in the same lake systems, Coregonus zugensis is a planktivore feeding primarily on zooplankton in the open-water zone. Swiss lake coregonids have faced ongoing pressures from historical eutrophication and changing thermal regimes. Details of habitat and range for this species remain limited in the ichthyological literature beyond its known Swiss lake association. Conservation status is not formally evaluated.
