<em>Rhinogobius albimaculatus</em> is a small freshwater goby belonging to the family Gobiidae, one of the largest families of bony fishes. Native to East Asian stream and river systems, members of the genus <em>Rhinogobius</em> typically inhabit clear, well-oxygenated, fast-flowing waters with gravel or rocky substrates. This species reaches a modest maximum length of approximately 5.9 cm, consistent with the diminutive size characteristic of many rheophilic gobies. Details of habitat and range for this species remain limited in the ichthyological literature. Rhinogobius gobies have attracted a dedicated following among aquarium enthusiasts, particularly those with an interest in biotope and species-specific setups. <em>R. albimaculatus</em> is likely suitable for a well-maintained freshwater aquarium that replicates cool, oxygen-rich stream conditions, with smooth gravel substrate and moderate water flow. Water temperature should ideally remain on the cooler side of the tropical range, in keeping with the temperate stream habitats typical of East Asian gobies. Feeding on small live or frozen invertebrates such as daphnia and bloodworms is generally recommended. Males of many <em>Rhinogobius</em> species display striking color patterns and can be territorial, so providing ample territory and carefully considering tank-mate compatibility is important for successful keeping.
