An icefish from Antarctic waters with a lance-like body, large eyes, and translucent flesh. Part of the Antarctic dragonfish radiation; lacks hemoglobin; inhabits frigid sub-zero southern ocean waters.
Habitat & Distribution
Antarctic and sub-Antarctic continental shelf and slope at depths of 200-1000m. Inhabits frigid waters (around -1.8°C) over soft and rocky substrates near the Antarctic continent.
