The Indo-Pacific sergeant (up to 20cm), with 5 blue-edged black vertical bars on a yellowish body. Extremely common on shallow reefs, lagoons, and harbors throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Highly adaptable.

Coloration
Pale yellow to greenish-yellow body with 5 dark blue-black vertical bars; upper body has a distinctly vivid yellow band above the bars contrasting with dark markings; belly pale; very similar to A. saxatilis but yellower.

Neritic, coral reefs

One of the most widespread damselfishes in the Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea and East Africa across the Indian Ocean to Hawaii, Japan, and the Tuamotu Archipelago. Found on shallow reef crests, lagoons, and rocky shores.
