Farlowella amazonum is a freshwater armored catfish reaching about 22.5 cm, found in the Amazon River basin. Known locally as 'Acari espada', it has a very slender, stick-like body with bony plates and a pointed snout, resembling a twig as camouflage against submerged wood.
