Delminichthys adspersus

<em>Delminichthys adspersus</em> is a small freshwater fish of the family Leuciscidae, a broadly distributed family of minnows and carps in the order Cypriniformes. This species reaches a maximum recorded length of approximately 9 cm. Members of the genus <em>Delminichthys</em> are endemic to river systems of the western Balkans, particularly the Adriatic basin of the former Yugoslavia, inhabiting karst spring systems, clear streams, and rivers with well-oxygenated water and abundant aquatic vegetation. These leuciscid fishes typically feed on small invertebrates, plant material, and algae. Karst aquatic environments are characterized by their limestone geology, high water clarity, and distinctive invertebrate communities. <em>Delminichthys adspersus</em> is one of a small number of species in this endemic Balkan genus.
