О рыбе

Coregonus fatioi, commonly referred to as the Albock, is a coregonid whitefish belonging to the family Salmonidae. Endemic to Lake Constance (Bodensee) on the border of Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, it inhabits the clear, deep, cold freshwater of this large perialpine lake at depths primarily ranging from the surface to approximately 30 metres. It reaches a maximum recorded length of approximately 36 cm. Coregonus fatioi is one of several coregonid species and ecotypes found in Alpine lakes, many of which arose through adaptive radiation following post-glacial colonisation. Lake Constance coregonids feed primarily on zooplankton and small invertebrates. Details of precise habitat preferences and population structure beyond the lake remain limited in the ichthyological literature, as the taxonomy of Alpine coregonids has historically been complex and subject to revision. This species is of interest primarily to researchers studying Alpine lake fish diversity and to regional fisheries. The broader genus Coregonus includes many commercially important whitefish species valued for their delicate, mild flesh, and Lake Constance coregonids have traditionally supported regional fisheries, though eutrophication and climate change have affected whitefish populations in many Alpine lakes.
