О рыбе
Akysis microps is a diminutive freshwater catfish in the family Akysidae, native to running water environments of South or Southeast Asia. The specific epithet microps — meaning small-eyed — likely refers to a notable morphological feature that distinguishes this species from closely related taxa within the genus Akysis. Adults typically reach a maximum recorded length of approximately 2.88 cm, placing this species in the smaller size range of the genus. Like other akysid catfishes, Akysis microps is presumed to occupy rheophilic stream habitats, where its dorsoventrally flattened body and spine-bearing fins enable it to navigate and hold position on rocky and gravelly riverbeds in fast-moving current. The genus Akysis is characterised by strongly tuberculate skin that increases surface friction with the substrate, an adaptation commonly seen in hill-stream fishes. Foraging behaviour likely involves searching benthic surfaces for small invertebrates, periphytic algae, and fine organic detritus. Details of habitat and range for this species remain limited in the ichthyological literature. Many species in the Akysidae are known from limited collections, and their taxonomy, distribution, and ecological requirements are incompletely resolved. Akysis microps has not been evaluated for conservation status under current assessment criteria.
