The Smallscale Bystranka, <em>Alburnoides microlepis</em>, is a small freshwater fish in the family Leuciscidae, a morphologically and ecologically diverse cypriniform family distributed across Eurasia and North America, encompassing daces, chubs, roaches, and many related taxa. The species belongs to the genus <em>Alburnoides</em>, whose members are generally slender, silvery fishes inhabiting the freshwater drainages of the Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asia. <em>Alburnoides microlepis</em> reaches a maximum recorded length of approximately 9.6 centimetres. Details of habitat and range for this species remain limited in the ichthyological literature. The common name Smallscale Bystranka refers to the comparatively fine scalation that characterises this taxon within the genus. Like its congeners, it is presumed to occupy clear, flowing freshwater environments, where it feeds on small aquatic invertebrates, algae, and organic particles suspended in the water column.
