A flathead fish described by Japanese ichthyologist Uno, from Indo-Pacific coastal sandy substrates. Adapted for ambush predation while lying partially buried on the seafloor.
Physical Description
Coloration
Sandy-gray to pale brownish body with irregular dark speckling and faint blotching; duckbill flattened head profile; body deepens anteriorly; belly pale cream; fins semi-transparent with scattered small dark spots.
Habitat & Distribution
Indo-Pacific shallow sandy and muddy marine substrates. Coastal and nearshore environments at depths of 10-100m, in temperate to tropical seas.
Sebaran Geografis
Known from tropical marine waters of the western Pacific, presumably in the general vicinity of the Philippines and Indonesian Archipelago based on the genus distribution. Found on sandy, subtidal coastal shelf environments.
