About
An abyssal cusk eel from the ultra-deep ocean floor. Highly reduced eyes and pale, gelatinous body adapted to extreme pressure and cold. Feeds on benthic invertebrates in hadal zone conditions.

Coloration
Pale pinkish-white to cream-white deep-sea brotulid with reduced pigmentation characteristic of abyssal species; scaleless or lightly scaled skin appears almost translucent; elongated tapering body form.
Habitat & Distribution
Ultra-deep oceanic environments (hadal zone), likely in trenches or abyssal plains. Inhabits near-zero temperatures and extreme pressure conditions at depths over 6000m.
Geographic Range
Recorded from deep bathyal and hadal waters of the southwestern Pacific Ocean, in the vicinity of New Zealand and the Kermadec Island chain. Found at extreme depths below 3,000 m on abyssal sediment plains.
